Women’s Day Planning Is Underway

Women’s Day ’24 is around the corner and planning is already underway! We hope to make this year’s celebration our best yet, and there are so many ways you can get involved. Our teams have already started discussing and planning but it’s not too late for you to join us.

Women’s Day Guest Speaker, Pastor Vera Denkins Moreland

Pastor Vera Denkins Moreland

Pastor Moreland is a Daughter of The Way of the Cross Church of Jesus Christ, Capital Heights, Maryland, where she remains under the auspice of Bishop Alphonso D. Brooks. She is the former Pastor of Unity and Praise Fellowship Center, Suitland, M. D. where she humbly submitted and devoted her time and talent for 16 years.

Pastor Moreland is a devoted educator who has served and is fully committed in ensuring that our communities are given the opportunity to grow through educational advancements. For over 28 years, she employed many educators on a full-time basis, and trained youth during summer breaks to become early childhood educators.

Pastor Vera Moreland is an anointed and appointed gospel singer. Her lifelong dream was fulfilled when she was granted the opportunity to sing with Dr. Shirley Caesar. Some of her many accolades include the following performances – The Lincoln Memorial, The U. S. Capital and many churches nationwide.

A native of Kelly, North Carolina who currently resides in White Plains, Maryland. She was educated through the North Carolina Public Schools System. After relocating to Washington, D.C., she continued to pursue her education at Prince George’s Community College. While at Prince George’s Community College, she earned an associate degree in early childhood education. The University of the District of Columbia (UDC), afforded her the opportunity to gain Certification in Family Community Leadership. Her thirst for knowledge continued. While attending The Apostolic Christian College, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology. In 2005, she earned a master’s degree in pastoral ministry.

Pastor Moreland serves as counselor to women suffering from physical, mental, substance abuse, and those transitioning out of prison. She visits prison inmates (male and female) and shares the gospel on a one-on-one level of ministry. Pastor Moreland is the founder of Destined and Determined Ministries since 2019. She continues to teach and preach through a zoom/conference line every Sunday morning. Every Wednesday morning at 6:00 a.m., Pastor Moreland leads an International Prayer call for others that need a word from the Lord. “To God be the Glory.”

The honorees selected should serve as a role model of compassion, and service in striving to inspire and educate others.
