The Word in Action – Serving with Purpose
Text: James 1:22–27 (Doers of the Word, not hearers only)
Main Idea: God’s Word must lead us to action—service inside and outside the church.
Application: Each member identifies one way to actively live out God’s Word in daily life.
Illustration: A mirror—you look in it to adjust, not to walk away unchanged.

Thanksgiving Day Service
Telling the Lord, Thank You! We’re gathering on Thanksgiving Day morning to celebrate the things for which we are thankful. Each of us will be given a card to list three (3) things we’re grateful for, and together we’ll celebrate the goodness of God. Don’t miss this beautiful celebration!

Fulfilling Our Vision & Mission
The VABC Food Connection
The VABC Food Connection will be a Food Pantry & SHARE Program launched to fulfill the Vision and Mission Statements of Vermont Avenue Baptist Church by providing food donations to those in need. We will invite Church Members, Community Members and Community Partners to assist in this endeavor with food and monetary donations. We will distribute food donations to those in need on a monthly basis. Eventually plans are to serve, on a periodic basis, hot, home cooked meals to those in need. The full program description, donation and volunteer forms can be found at the button below.

A Message from the VABC Wellness Ministry
Boredom Busters Was a Success!
In partnership with Children’s National Hospital, and with the support of VABC volunteers who provided the supplies and helped assemble them, Boredom Buster Bags were successfully delivered to hospitalized children! These individualized bags full of paint markers, Rubik’s cubes, card games, Leggo models, and word puzzles, centered around bringing fun and distraction to children in the hospital who are experiencing illness and pain. We’re sending special thanks to ALL who made this initiative possible, and thanks to Lady Lakisha for her support. ” When I look at this picture I see our mission and vision in ACTION! Nurturing an awareness of our responsibility to one another and building community.”
